  4. Do not pile up the onions and potatoes. You can store them in a cellar if you have one or keep them in a space where there's no sunlight. 
  5. Cut off the tops of root vegetables since it prevents drying and retains their flavour and texture.
  6. You can keep the lemons on the counter. This way, they last for a week. If you want them to last longer, you can store them in the refrigerator. 
  7. It is advisable not to refrigerate tomatoes. Keep them at room temperature to catalyse their ripening.
  • Refrigeration

It is not mandatory to store the fruits and vegetables in the freezer. Store easy to rot fruits in the refrigerator. Most of the vegetables can be stored at room temperature in separate racks or baskets.

If you want to store peeled and cut fruits or veggies, make sure you refrigerate them within two hours or one hour if the outside temperature is ninety-degree Fahrenheit or warmer. The same goes for cooked food. Store them at a chilled temperature of 40-degree Fahrenheit or colder in a clean container.
